As part of the EU funded project EU4PSL, implemented by Expertise France to support Libya's private sector, a national competition was organised through a TV show called Raedat (Women Entrepreneurs).
Thirty women from all Libyan regions competed to convince the judges and secure a 5000€ grant to implement their business plans and grow their projects; by the end of the show, 12 women have been announced winners and benefited from the financial support.
The 30 women were selected through a call for application conducted by local CSOs; six CSOs (two from the west, two from the east, two from the south) worked closely with Expertise France to propose 5 participants from their region.
In each episode, the women entrepreneurs pitched their projects in front of a jury who rated their projects based on their feasibility, market potential, ability to develop and provide employment, financial sustainability, and their project's innovation.
The two women with the highest score from each CSO won the grant in addition to a chance to meet potential investors.
The show was streamed online through Tabadul TV in addition to the Libyan TV channel (WTV). It provided a unique opportunity for these women entrepreneurs to present their projects to a broader audience for excellent visibility and introduce their hometowns, giving the audience an informative brief about different Libyan cities and regions.
