27/10/227/10/2021, Tripoli - A meeting was held between Mr. Saddik Omar Al-Kabir, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) and Expertise France's team. The ongoing work with the bank as part of the EU4PSL project in the fields of microfinance, credit information centre development, financial leasing and fintech were among the topics that were discussed.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Jérémie Pellet, CEO of Expertise France, Mr. José Luis Sánchez Alegre, Deputy Head of the European Union delegation in Libya and Julien Schmitt, programs director of Expertise France's economic program in Libya. Several department managers and consultants at the bank also attended.
The aspirations of the Central Bank and its contribution to the stability of Libya pushing the economy forward were also discussed alongside the contribution of Expertise France in this process.
Recently, and within the same context, a field visit to Paris headed by Mr.Mukhtar Altaweel, Head of Banking Supervision and Monetary Department at the Central Bank of Libya was organised by Expertise France last October.
During the visit, the CBL team visited Banque de France and Adie Association in order to learn about the best practices used in the promotion and management of microfinance in France, as part of the efforts to create a conducive and supportive environment for microfinance in Libya.
