A 3-Day workshop took place in Tunis on the 6th, 7th and 8th of December 2020 gathering the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce and the Chambers of Commerce from different Libyan cities.
Several topics were discussed during the workshop and as a result, the general union and the COCs worked together and approved the creation of the “COC Business Community Network”, which will pool together all key private sector stakeholders into a dynamic network translated into frequent, regular and informal events, in order to identify business opportunities, capture existing knowledge, and hopefully deliver tangible mutually beneficial results for the network members.
Also, during the workshop, the results of a large-scale survey of COC members “conducted to better understand the needs and expectations of Libyan business owners”, have been displayed and discussed. Practical recommendations were presented on how to improve the chambers’ work and services to meet those needs and expectations.
The General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce and the Chambers of Commerce also agreed on a list of concrete, tangible, and specific time-bound actions to be implemented together. These actions will contribute to boosting the overall services to their members and will be a positive step towards improving the work environment for the private sector in Libya.
This workshop paves the way for the implementation of the #EU4PSL 2-year upcoming activities funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France, which is devoted to the capacity building of the COC/GU advisory and advocacy functions, and enhancing economic reforms.
