To create an opportunity to exchange experiences, promote awareness of a free and digital economy, and leverage partnerships between the public and private sectors of African countries, the Afro-Eco conference was held in Tunis from the 1st until the 2nd of March 2022. The International Five Consulting and OutBox team organised it in collaboration with Utica Tunisie (the local business association) and the Libyan National Planning Council.
The two-day conference included discussion panels bringing together key players in the African economies and digital institutions to discuss several topics, including the legislative and regulatory environment for Africa's free and digital economy and the trade and investment in the communications and information technology sector. The conference also had an accompanying exhibition where companies from Libya, Tunis and Algeria used their pavilions to promote their work and seek investment and collaboration opportunities.
Expertise France with the EU4PSL project funded by the European Union was among the exhibitors. They collaborated with the Libyan Ministry of Economy in their participation in the Afro-Eco conference and presented the two digital platforms (Ejraat and Euromed Trade Helpdesk) that were jointly created to ease business regulations in Libya for enterprises and facilitate trade and investment in the region.
Many official Libyan and Tunisian delegations, media channels and journalists visited the EU4PSL pavilion to learn about the two platforms. Visitors praised the services provided by the platforms and emphasized the importance of such initiatives to support the digital transformation in Libya.
