On 21 November 2018, several high-ranking officials were guests of honor during the closing ceremony of the first entrepreneurs bootcamp organized in Misrata, Libya, by SLEIDSE and the Misrata Chamber of Commerce. Among them, the French Ambassador to Libya, H.E. Béatrice le Fraper du Hellen, the Libyan Minister of Labour, Mr. Almehdi Alamin, Mr. Mohamed Alaraied, the Board Director of Misrata Chamber of Commerce and of the Union of the Chambers of Commerce, and a representative of the Turkish Consulate of Misrata.
For four days, 24 Libyan entrepreneurs aged between 22 and 40 attended the bootcamp in Misrata city. They got trained by local and international trainers to improve their skills and capacities on several topics; in particular, they learnt to deliver elevator’s pitches, to use social media and to develop business within Libyan ecosystem as well as in the MENA region. They also acquired sound knowledge of lean startup approach to scale up companies.
8 entrepreneurs, selected by other participants, were invited to pitch their business ideas during the closing ceremony in front of an international audience. The jury – composed of sponsors and partners – chose 5 winners, among them 2 are women. All of there were rewarded with LYD 6000.
All participants expressed their satisfaction with the training programme and its adaptation to their needs and expectations.
This activity was performed within SLEIDSE project, also financed by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France, which aims to support the development of entrepreneurship in Libya.
